So I know this is supposed to be all about For Whom The Bell Tolls but I thought I might throw in some stuff that's still art related, but more personal fine art style. So here are some process shots of some recent pieces that were in a recent group show.
These works are kind of a continuation of the same concept I was exploring through a series of paintings I completed while at my final year at the National Art School, which is based around the idea of creating an ambiguous space. The drawing 'style' (I guess you'd call it that) is more concerned with an analytical, academic approach that centres around describing the form and structure of the subject, rather than the aesthetic look of shading and crap. In other words, drawing that describes the form with line to show the structure and perspective of the subject, opposed to drawing that looks cheesy and lame. The ambiguous space I mentioned comes from combining various references into a single image, creating a form that exists in two spaces at once, both wrong, but both right, a simultaneous existence of a contradiction (and wank, it is 'art' after all).
The show they were in was the 'It's Official' group show at Gallery 5 Crown Lane which kicked off very nicely and hopefully means the beginning of many more shows to come. With many thanks to all involved The one at the bottom of this post is actually sold, but the one at the top is still up for grabs, holla at me y'all.
